NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN PURSUANT TO ARTICLE 7, SECTION 23(C) OF THE LOUISIANA CONSTITUTION AND R.S. 47:1705(B) AND 47:1705.1 THAT A PUBLIC HEARING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE ST. TAMMANY FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT NO. 12 WILL BE HELD AT THE SPECIAL MEETING PLACE,  THE ST. TAMMANY PARISH COUNCIL CHAMBERS, 21490 KOOP DRIVE, MANDEVILLE, LOUISIANA 70471 ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 12, 2020 AT 6:00 P.M. TO CONSIDER LEVYING ADDITIONAL OR INCREASED MILLAGE RATES WITHOUT FURTHER VOTER APPROVAL OR ADOPTING THE ADJUSTED MILLAGE RATES AFTER REASSESSMENT AND ROLLING FORWARD TO RATES NOT TO EXCEED THE PRIOR YEAR’S MAXIMUM.  THE ESTIMATED AMOUNT OF TAX REVENUES TO BE COLLECTED IN THE NEXT TAX YEAR FROM THE INCREASED MILLAGE IS $7,345,677.00, AND THE AMOUNT OF INCREASE IN TAXES ATTRIBUTABLE TO THE MILLAGE INCREASE IS $279,134.00.

THE CURRENT BUDGET IS $6,419,267.00.

Welcome to Fire District 12

Fire District 12 was founded in 1984 and opened its first fire station in April 1986. Originally funded by a 5-mill property tax approved by the voters, the District now operates five stations, employs more than 50 full-time firefighters, and coordinates dispatch services for 10 of St. Tammany’s fire protection districts.

The District is equipped with multiple fire engines, including pumpers and a ladder truck, and engages in voluntary mutual aid pacts with neighboring fire districts, ensuring citizens get the best possible service in times of emergency no matter where they live in our community.
