UniFire Team Members Attend Honorary Banquet During National Public Safety Telecommunications Week in St. Tammany Parish

St. Tammany Parish President Pat Brister recently signed a proclamation declaring the week of April 12 through April 18, 2015, National Public Safety Telecommunications Week in St. Tammany Parish.

This week in April is set aside every year, on a national level, to recognize the men and women who we call first for help in an emergency. They are the voice on the other end of that 9-1-1 call who will walk you through any emergency situation, all the while communicating with first  responders to coordinate and route help as soon as humanly possible.

To celebrate their hard work and dedication, UniFire team members and other St. Tammany Parish dispatchers and communicators attended an honorary banquet on Wednesday, April 15, 2015.

“We are very appreciative of St. Tammany Communications Dist. 1 for hosting the event every year,” said UniFire Communications Supervisor Jason Bilich. “UniFire, and every center in St. Tammany, works hard behind the scenes every minute of every day to provide the citizens of St. Tammany with care and compassion.  Call takers and dispatchers are often the unseen faces in emergencies; however, we are the first contact the public has during their worst time.  While nobody takes a job in public-safety for recognition, it is always nice to be recognized.”
