District 12 Chief Elected To State Board
05/18/09

For Immediate Release
Monday, May 18, 2009
Stephen Krentel, Chief of Training, Safety and Fire Prevention for St. Tammany Fire District No. 12, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Louisiana Fire Chiefs Association.
The purpose of the Association is to promote the profession of the fire service, to improve the methods of fire prevention, training, protection, and extinguishment and to maintain high standards of professional ethics among the Fire Service Officers of Louisiana. Firefighters with the rank of Chief who are members of LFCA are permitted to cast ballots in the election.
Krentel was elected to represent District 9, which includes St. Tammany, Washington, Tangipahoa and St. Helena Parishes, corresponding with the state’s Homeland Security Regions. Regional Representatives serve one-year terms, and Krentel replaced Chief Merrick Tassin from Fire District 4, based in Mandeville.
“I’m honored to have been elected by my peers to this position, and I look forward to working with the firefighters I represent and with colleagues from around the state to advance the profession of firefighting and to exchange ideas and information,” Krentel said.
“We’re very proud to have Chief Krentel represent the communities of the Northshore parishes on the LFCA Board,” said Fire District 12 Chief Darrell Guilott. “He serves the citizens of our district admirably, and we know he will provide solid representation for the fire departments of all four parishes.”
